The Mustang Mach-E is Ford's electric crossover, launched for 2021 and named after the pony car despite sharing nothing mechanical with it. Was it a success?
The Mach-E is a qualified commercial success: it outsells most non-Tesla electric vehicles in the US, but Ford has lost money on its electric division and has cut prices repeatedly. Reliability has been average for a new platform, with a 2022 recall over overheating high-voltage battery contactors that could cause a loss of drive, addressed by a software update.

The important detail is that original equipment is EV-specific: Michelin Primacy and Continental ProContact in low-rolling-resistance compounds, frequently with acoustic foam inside the casing to keep road noise down in a car with no engine to mask it. Fitting an ordinary all-season in place of an EV tire typically costs 5 to 10 percent of range and makes the cabin noticeably louder. Load index matters because the Mach-E is heavy for its size, so check for an XL-rated tire with a load index at or above the placard figure.
