Nexen traces its roots to 1942 as Heung-A Tire, Korea's first tire company, and adopted the Nexen name in 2000. It is the third of the Korean makers after Hankook and Kumho, with plants in South Korea, China and the Czech Republic. It has no US factory, but it supplies original equipment to Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen and Fiat Chrysler from a US office in Ohio.
Nexen sells on price and warranty. The N5000 Platinum touring tire carries a 70,000-mile warranty, the N Priz AH8 is a quiet OE-style all-season found on many Hyundai and Kia models, and the Roadian HTX2 is a highway tire for pickups and SUVs with a 70,000-mile warranty. For trucks, the Roadian ATX is an all-terrain with a 65,000-mile warranty that has earned good reviews for its price. The N'Fera AU7 is the performance all-season and the Winguard Sport 2 is the winter tire.
Prices are among the lowest of the name-brand makers, often 30 to 40 percent under Michelin. Nexen also offers a 30-day trial on most models. The honest trade-offs are shorter real-world tread life than the warranties suggest, more road noise and wet grip that trails the premium brands. As a budget tire from a company with real OE experience, it is a step up from the no-name imports.

Nexen as a company
Nexen has no US factory, so every Nexen tire sold in America is imported from Yangsan or Changnyeong in Korea, Qingdao in China, or Zatec in the Czech Republic. Nexen Tire America was established in 2005 and moved its US headquarters to Richfield, Ohio in 2021, next to its North American technical center, and it ships from distribution centers in Ontario, California; Morrow, Georgia; and Lockbourne, Ohio. Nexen sells mainly through independent dealers, regional chains and online retailers, and has been building an original-equipment business with automakers alongside its value-oriented replacement range.
Revenue and operating margin are preliminary consolidated figures for fiscal 2025: KRW 3.19 trillion of revenue and KRW 170.3 billion of operating profit (5.3%), converted at 1,450 KRW/USD - which reproduces the $2.20 billion that trade press quoted for the same release. Employees is set to null: the figures found (4,171 at December 2025 per a commercial database, 3,998 for 2014 per Wikipedia) are Korea-only or non-consolidated and no group headcount could be verified; summing the plant headcounts in the Global Tire Report gives about 4,100 factory workers alone, so a group figure would be higher. The 47.5 million tires is combined nameplate ANNUAL CAPACITY of Nexen's four plants (47.518 million units, 2025 company data reported by Seoul Economic Daily), not audited output; the company separately stated production of 'more than 42 million tires' a year in 2021. Production in tonnes is not published. Rank and market share are from the Global Tire Report 2025 (fiscal 2024 tire sales of $2,273.4 million, which per the report's own footnote includes industrial tires and tubes from affiliate Nexen Corp., against the $180.2 billion Top 75 aggregate). Headquarters: Yangsan is the registered head office; the Nexen central R&D hub and main offices are in the Magok district of Seoul, so both cities are cited in company material.

Are Nexen tires good?
For the price, yes. Nexen supplies original equipment to Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen, so its tires meet automaker standards. They are not as quiet, grippy in the wet or long-lasting as Michelin or Continental, but they cost far less and are a clear step above unknown budget imports.
Where are Nexen tires made?
Nexen has no US plant. Tires sold in the US come from its factories in Yangsan and Changnyeong in South Korea, Qingdao in China, or Zatec in the Czech Republic. The country of origin is molded on the sidewall.
How long do Nexen tires last?
Touring models like the N5000 Platinum and Roadian HTX2 carry 70,000-mile warranties, and owners commonly report 50,000 to 60,000 miles. The Roadian ATX all-terrain is warranted for 65,000 miles and typically delivers 45,000 to 55,000. Performance and winter tires last considerably less.
