Toyo Tire was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1945 and has been a strong presence in the US since the 1960s. Toyo Tire USA is based in Cypress, California, and the company has built tires in White, Georgia since 2006, where many of the best-selling Open Country sizes are made. Toyo also owns the Nitto brand.
Toyo's American reputation rests on the Open Country family. The Open Country A/T III is one of the most popular all-terrain tires in the country, with a 65,000-mile warranty on most sizes and the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol. The Open Country M/T is a long-running mud-terrain favored by lifted-truck owners for its durability. The Open Country H/T II is the highway version for pickups and SUVs that stay on pavement.
For cars, the Celsius II is an all-weather tire with a 60,000-mile warranty, the Proxes Sport is a well-priced summer tire, and the Extensa A/S II is a value all-season. Toyo's Observe GSi-6 covers winter duty. Prices are mid-to-upper for the truck tires and mid for the car tires, and Toyo offers a 45-day, 500-mile trial on most consumer tires. The honest weakness is that Toyo's passenger tires are less competitive than its truck tires, and the M/T wears quickly if driven mostly on pavement.

Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. has sold tires in America since 1966 and is now based in Costa Mesa, California. Its factory in White, Georgia opened in 2005-06, has been expanded five times and is the Toyo group's largest plant, so a large share of the Toyo and Nitto tires sold in the US are made in the US. Toyo is strongest in light-truck and SUV fitments - Open Country and Proxes - and sells through independent dealers, off-road and wheel-and-tire specialists, and online retailers.
Revenue and operating margin are consolidated group figures for the year ended 31 December 2025: net sales JPY 594,923 million, operating income JPY 97,350 million (16.4%); the tire business alone was JPY 547,697 million of sales and JPY 95,509 million of operating income. JPY converted at 150 JPY/USD. Employees: 11,202 consolidated (including temporary staff) as at 31 December 2024 - Toyo's latest published consolidated headcount; no 2025 figure was found. Rank and market share are from the Global Tire Report 2025 (fiscal 2024 tire-only sales of $3,433.2 million as a share of the $180.2 billion Top 75 aggregate). Plant count of 7 is Toyo's own tire production network: Kuwana and Sendai (Japan), Zhucheng and Zhangjiagang (China), Taiping (Malaysia), White, Georgia (US) and Indjija (Serbia). Annual production in tires and tonnes is not published on a group basis: Toyo's two Japanese plants are rated in tonnes (80,400 and 74,400 t/year) and the overseas plants in units, so no consistent total can be given.

Yes, it is one of the most recommended all-terrain tires for daily-driven trucks. It carries a 65,000-mile warranty on most sizes, the 3PMSF winter symbol and a quieter tread than most rivals. It is slightly less rugged than the BFGoodrich KO3 for hard rock work but better on pavement.
Does Toyo make good car tires?
Toyo's car tires are decent value rather than class leaders. The Celsius II is a competent all-weather tire, the Proxes Sport is a good summer tire for the money, and the Extensa A/S II is a budget all-season. If you drive a truck or SUV, Toyo is a stronger choice than for a sedan.
