About the Hyundai Accent
The Accent was Hyundai's subcompact car in the US from 1995 until 2022, sold as a hatchback and a sedan and positioned as one of the cheapest new cars on the market. Was it a success?
The Accent did its job commercially for two decades, selling on price and warranty rather than on desirability, and Hyundai withdrew it from the US when the Venue crossover proved it could sell the same buyer a taller body for more money. Resale is poor in absolute terms, which makes used examples cheap, and the ten-year warranty on the original owner does not transfer in full. Reliability on the 2012-on cars is respectable, with the earlier cars now mostly worn out rather than broken.
