Buying tires at Belle Tire
Regional chain, selling tires since 1922, 185 stores. What tires cost there, what shipping and installation add, how returns work and what customers rate them.
Who owns it
Controlled by the Barnes family, with Don Barnes III as owner and president; the family bought out the founding Waze family's remaining shares in 1984. On July 16, 2026 Big Brand Tire & Service, backed by Percheron Capital since 2021, announced an agreement to acquire Belle Tire, with closing expected in the third quarter of 2026. No completion announcement had been published as of late September 2026.
What you can buy there
Belle Tire's own FAQ says it has "more than 250,000 brand name tires in stock and ready for installation," searchable by vehicle, brand or size, but it does not publish a brand list. The chain also sells wheels, runs an off-season storage and valet changeover program, and does brakes, suspension, oil changes, batteries and air conditioning. Unusually for a tire chain it also does auto glass, with technicians it says are certified and compliant with Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standards; used tires are not advertised.
Shipping
Belle Tire is a store chain, not a shipper. Its FAQ says tires ordered on belletire.com are bought online and then installed at a store: "you may purchase online and schedule installation online or by calling the store." No home delivery option is advertised, and there is no Alaska or Hawaii service because all 185 stores are in Michigan (91), Illinois (39), Indiana (39) and Ohio (16). Customers who want to fit tires themselves can use the "cash and carry" option instead.
Installation
Work is done in Belle Tire's own bays at 185 company-operated stores; the FAQ states the locations are not franchised. Belle Tire does not publish a per-tire installation price and instead quotes what it trademarks as Out the Door Pricing: "The price we quote is the price you pay. There are no hidden fees." Buying the tire installation package adds a free alignment check, free lifetime rotation, free balancing and free flat repairs; road hazard cover is separate, sold as the Belle Tire Tire Protection Plan.
Returns and warranty
There is no published, uniform return window. The FAQ says "Our return policy is contingent upon store policy and procedures" and tells customers to settle specifics with a sales associate before buying. Manufacturer warranty claims are also pushed outward: "Some tire manufacturers offer warranties for your tire purchases. Please, inquire with store sales associate for more information." Nothing ships, so return freight and restocking fees do not arise, but nor is there a written cooling-off period.
Where they sit on price
The pitch is a price guarantee rather than low shelf prices. Belle Tire says it "will beat local retailers within a reasonable driving distance and online non-auction retailers" and that it "accounts for all costs and fees when price matching including, but not limited to, shipping, handling, installation and taxes." The conditions are real: same brand, size and model, in stock at the competitor, no stacking with Belle Tire sales or coupons, and "We reserve the right to decline any price match request." List prices are generally above online-only sellers, so the match is the route to an online price with local fitting.

- The Better Business Bureau rates the corporate profile F and lists it as not accredited, with 123 complaints closed in the last three years; Trustpilot sits at 2.2 of 5 with 75 percent one-star reviews
- Recurring reviewer themes are upselling and quotes for repairs other shops could not confirm, appointments not honored on time, and workmanship errors such as loose lug nuts
- No uniform return policy or written tire warranty of its own: returns are "contingent upon store policy" and defect questions are referred to the tire manufacturer

The limits are stated: alignment checks are included but "if an alignment adjustment or replacement parts are recommended, additional services or parts are not included," and a flat is repaired only when the damage can be safely repaired. The free services are tied to buying the tire installation package rather than to cash-and-carry tires.
