Buying tires at Goodyear
National chain, selling tires since 1898, 505 stores. What tires cost there, what shipping and installation add, how returns work and what customers rate them.
Who owns it
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a public company listed on NASDAQ as GT, founded in 1898 and still headquartered in Akron, Ohio. Both goodyear.com and the company-owned Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires stores are Goodyear's own operations, with no outside owner. The revenue figure below is the whole company's worldwide tire manufacturing net sales from the 2025 Form 10-K, not retail sales: Goodyear reported net sales of $18,280 million and a net loss of $1,721 million for 2025.
What you can buy there
Goodyear.com sells only Goodyear's own family of brands: Goodyear, plus Cooper, Kelly, Mastercraft and Starfire from the Cooper business it bought in 2021. Dunlop is no longer part of that family, because Goodyear sold the Dunlop brand to Sumitomo Rubber Industries in May 2025. There are no third-party brands, no wheels and no used tires, so cross-shopping Michelin against Bridgestone is impossible here.
Shipping
There is no shipping charge on a normal goodyear.com tire order, because the tires are sent to the installer you pick at checkout rather than to your door, and the price you see covers tires plus standard installation. Appointments cannot be booked sooner than 48 hours out, since installers are given two days' notice. Checkout also offers a Ship to Anywhere option, where installation is not included and you arrange and pay for fitting yourself, and a Goodyear Mobile Garage option in some markets; items over 70 pounds carry a $50 per-item fee.
Installation
Fitting is done either at a company-owned store or at an authorized independent installer chosen during checkout. Standard installation is bundled into the online price and covers mounting, balancing and valve stems, with extra fees for vehicles with TPMS and for run-flat tires. Road hazard protection is not sold by Goodyear online; the site tells buyers to ask the installer what it offers, and old-tire disposal is a small fee at the shop. Goodyear's own locator lists roughly 25,000 authorized outlets, and the company says its credit card is accepted at more than 17,100 Goodyear locations, but it does not publish how many of those accept goodyear.com orders.
Returns and warranty
Online tire orders are effectively final: Goodyear's terms of sale state the tires cannot be returned and no refund is given, with exceptions only under the manufacturer's limited warranty and the Goodyear Satisfaction Guarantee, and both must be handled at a Goodyear authorized retailer. Before installation an order can still be cancelled by phone or live chat. The 60-Day Satisfaction Guarantee is an exchange rather than a refund: within 60 days, with the original receipt, select tires can be swapped for another set of Goodyear, Cooper, Kelly or Mastercraft tires, you pay or get back the price difference, mounting and balancing are included, valve stems are extra, and the replacement set is not covered again. Treadwear claims run under the Highway Auto and Light Truck Tire Replacement Limited Warranty, prorated by tread used and age.
Where they sit on price
List prices on goodyear.com sit above what online discounters charge for the same tire, and the discount arrives as a rebate rather than a lower price: eligible tires show an instant or mail-in rebate paid as a Goodyear Prepaid Visa card roughly six to eight weeks after the claim is submitted. A price match guarantee will match an authorized retailer's in-cart price if you call or chat with the URL in hand, and the Goodyear Credit Card is pushed as the financing route. Off-rebate, it is a full-price channel.

Where it falls short
- Only Goodyear-family brands are sold, so there is no way to compare against Michelin, Bridgestone or Continental in the same basket
- Pricing is rebate-gated: the saving arrives as a prepaid Visa card six to eight weeks later, and unpaid or failed rebates are the single most common complaint in recent Trustpilot reviews
- Online orders cannot be refunded at all; the only exits are a warranty claim or a 60-day exchange, and both require a trip to an authorized retailer
- The earliest installation slot is 48 hours out, and road hazard coverage has to be bought separately from the installer
- The store network is shrinking: global retail outlets fell from about 800 to about 750 and commercial centers from about 230 to about 180 between the 2024 and 2025 Form 10-K filings, and Goodyear exited retail in Australia and New Zealand in 2025
- Store-level service draws heavy criticism: 1.56 of 5 from 91 BBB customer reviews and 1.4 of 5 from 181 Trustpilot reviews, with complaints about incomplete balancing, callbacks that never come and mileage warranties refused
