BayPine, the private equity firm, which led an investor group in partnership with TSG Consumer Partners that agreed in March 2021 to acquire Mavis Tire Express Services; BayPine's own site confirms Mavis is a portfolio company of a fund it manages, with David Sorbaro as Co-CEO. Golden Gate Capital held the earlier stake around the 2018 combination with Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers and Brakes Plus. Under BayPine the group has grown almost entirely by acquisition: Tuffy in 2021, NTB and Tire Kingdom from TBC Corporation in 2023, Midas in June 2025, and Pep Boys from Icahn Enterprises on August 20, 2026, taking the group past 4,400 service centers.

What you can buy there

Mavis is brand-agnostic and stocks the major makers alongside cheap import lines, with the website advertising all-season tires starting at $61.49 and SUV and light-truck tires from $87.49, so the bottom of the range is genuinely low. Because the group now owns Mavis Discount Tire, Mavis Tires & Brakes, Midas, Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers, Brakes Plus, Tire Kingdom, NTB, Town Fair Tire, Tuffy and Pep Boys, buying volume is very large and stock is usually available locally. New tires only, with brakes, alignment and oil service as the other half of the business; wheels and used tires are not a focus.

Shipping

There is no home delivery. Tires are bought for fitting at a Mavis location, and the site's flow is size, store, appointment, so shipping charges and transit times do not apply. Stock comes from the group's own distribution, which is why availability at a nearby store is usually next-day rather than a week out.

Installation

Fitting is done in Mavis's own bays at more than 2,100 owned locations across 36 states, with no third-party installer network involved. Mavis does not publish a per-tire installation charge, and its own warranty document makes clear that balancing is billed separately from a warranty replacement tire, so mounting, balancing, valve stems and disposal have to be confirmed as line items in the quote. A Road Hazard Limited Warranty is included on tire purchases and runs for the shorter of three years from purchase or until the tire is down to 2/32 inch of tread, covering cuts, snags, bruises, impact breaks and unrepairable punctures with a replacement charged pro rata against the percentage of tread worn.

Returns and warranty

Mavis publishes no stated return window for tires, which is the weak point of the offer: there is no advertised unmounted-return or satisfaction period to fall back on. What it does publish is the Road Hazard Limited Warranty above and a price match: find the same tire cheaper within 30 days of purchase and Mavis refunds the difference plus 5%. Manufacturer mileage and defect warranties are handled through the installing store, and the group runs a central warranty line at (800) 757-4291.

Mavis is genuinely cheap at the entry end, with all-season tires advertised from $61.49, and it backs that with a price match that covers verifiable competitor quotes on the same brand, model, size and construction including their shipping and handling, refunding the difference plus 5% for 30 days after purchase. Closeouts, clearance, member pricing, promo codes, instant rebates and third-party marketplace sellers are excluded from the match. The honest caveat is that the advertised tire price is not the price many customers pay: quotes rising at the counter is the single most repeated complaint against the chain.

Is road hazard coverage included when I buy tires at Mavis?

Yes. Tires carry a Road Hazard Limited Warranty covering cuts, snags, bruises, impact breaks and other unrepairable punctures, running for the shorter of three years from purchase or until the tire is worn to less than 2/32 inch of tread. Replacement is not free: you pay a share of the original purchase price based on the percentage of tread already worn, and balancing, taxes and government-mandated charges are not included in the replacement price.
