Buying tires at TireBuyer
Online only, selling tires since 2009, 18,000 partner installers. What tires cost there, what shipping and installation add, how returns work and what customers rate them.
Who owns it
Tirebuyer.com LLC, whose name still carries the site footer as '2026 Tirebuyer.com LLC'. TireBuyer was built and owned by American Tire Distributors (ATD) until March 2021, when ATD merged it with Michael Welch's Tirescanner.com into what the parties described as 'a new independent entity' led by Welch, the founder of Blackcircles.com; the ownership split was never disclosed. In November 2023 the group rebranded itself Treadsy and moved its main business to white-label tire e-commerce for other retailers, first with Rent-A-Center and then with Lowe's, which launched LowesTires.com on the Treadsy platform in March 2025; TireBuyer.com was kept as the consumer storefront. Because the separation happened in 2021, ATD's own Chapter 11 filing in October 2024 and the 2025 sale of substantially all ATD assets to a creditor group did not close TireBuyer, which was still trading in September 2026. BBB records the business as started in 2007 and lists Michael Welch as CEO; the trade press dates the store's first tire and wheel sales to 2009.
What you can buy there
The catalog is narrow by online-tire standards: TireBuyer's brand pages list roughly 16 tire brands, mixing majors with value lines such as Hercules, Ironman, Ohtsu, Nexen, Kumho and Hankook. Wheels are sold alongside tires. No used tires are offered.
Shipping
Shipping is free when the order goes to a shop in the installer network, and TireBuyer says most orders are processed and sent out within 24 hours and reach the installer the next business day; home delivery takes longer. The company describes 'multiple warehouses located across the United States' but publishes no count, and since the 2021 separation from ATD it no longer draws on ATD's distribution centers as a stated asset. It states no terms for Alaska, Hawaii or PO boxes.
Installation
TireBuyer has no bays of its own. Orders are routed to what it calls a nationwide network of 18,000 trusted mobile and in-store installation partners, a figure the trade press has repeated since 2023, and the mobile side runs under the Treadsy brand created in 2021 with franchisor Tread Connection. What mounting, balancing, valve stems, disposal and TPMS work cost is set by the receiving shop rather than by TireBuyer, and road hazard coverage comes from the tire manufacturer, not from the retailer.
Returns and warranty
Returns are accepted within 30 days on unmounted, unused tires. They are free when the order was shipped to an installer; on home deliveries TireBuyer charges $7.50 per tire if the box is dropped at a UPS location and $15 per tire if a UPS pickup is requested. Manufacturer treadwear and road hazard claims go through the tire maker's own warranty process rather than through TireBuyer.
Where they sit on price
TireBuyer competes on delivered price and rebates rather than on the lowest sticker: Pirelli, Hankook, General, Laufenn and Kumho promotions were running on the home page in September 2026, alongside financing and a military discount. Installation is billed by the shop, so the checkout figure is not the total cost. There is no membership or club price.

Where it falls short
- The corporate ground has moved repeatedly. TireBuyer was American Tire Distributors' storefront until March 2021, was folded into a parent that rebranded to Treadsy in November 2023 and declared its priority to be powering the tire-retailing capabilities of other companies rather than its own shop, and the former parent ATD then filed Chapter 11 in October 2024 and sold substantially all of its assets in 2025. The store is open, but it is no longer the company's main event.
- Only 3.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 331 reviews, and the low-star reviews hit the core promise: 'we show up, tires are not there, tire place guy looks at me with big eyes, we know nothing about this delivery/order', and a split set where 'only two tires have been shipped and the other two are lost somewhere in my City. Tirebuyer just keeps saying give me another 48 business hours'.
- Returns on home deliveries cost $7.50 to $15 per tire, and the catalog of about 16 brands is thin, so performance, light-truck and odd sizes often are not stocked at all.
- BBB shows an A- rather than an A+, the business is not BBB accredited, and 15 complaints were closed in the last three years against a base of only 43 customer reviews and roughly 35 staff.

Tirebuyer.com was trading normally in September 2026, with live rebates, a working catalog and a footer reading '2026 Tirebuyer.com LLC', and the newest Trustpilot review on its profile was dated 15 January 2026. What changed is the ownership: American Tire Distributors merged TireBuyer with Tirescanner.com in March 2021 into an independent business led by Michael Welch, which rebranded itself Treadsy in November 2023.
